Spirit of Shanshui

Spirit of Shanshui is a meditation on the meeting of the inner spirit and the poetic essence of shanshui.

Through travel to the East, I seek the distinctive spirit found within shanshui. Layered mountains, drifting clouds and mist, winding waterways, and trees and stones unfold in the rhythms of nature, evoking a beauty that is subtle and profound. These landscapes are both the tangible world before us and a place where ideals and emotions may be entrusted to the mountains and waters.

What I capture is both the reality of the landscape and the poetic essence within it. Through contemplation, the landscape becomes more than scenery—a place for reflection, where one may find solace in the mountains and waters and see oneself reflected in nature.
