Mt. Nanhu East Peak is located in the northern section of Taiwan’s Central Mountain Range within Taroko National Park. As one of the important subsidiary peaks of the Nanhu Mountain Group, it forms a remarkable alpine landscape together with Mt. Nanhu, Mt. Nanhu Southeast Peak, and Central Range Point. Composed mainly of metamorphic rocks, the mountain has been shaped by tectonic uplift and long-term erosion, resulting in exposed rock faces, steep slopes, and rugged alpine ridges. The surrounding area preserves valuable high-mountain ecosystems, including Taiwan fir forests, dwarf bamboo grasslands, and glacial landforms that record past climatic changes. Located within the heart of the Nanhu alpine region, Mt. Nanhu East Peak provides outstanding views of the Nanhu cirque, Mt. Nanhu, Central Range Point, and the northern Central Mountain Range. Its dramatic rock formations, changing cloud patterns, and alpine light make it a remarkable subject for Taiwan mountain landscape photography.
