Mt. Dongxiaonan is situated on the southern ridge of the Yushan Massif within Yushan National Park, forming an important part of the mountain system together with Mt. Yushan Main Peak, Mt. Yushan South Peak, and Mt. Xiaonan. Composed primarily of metamorphic rocks, the mountain has been shaped by tectonic uplift and prolonged weathering, creating broad alpine ridges and exposed rocky terrain characteristic of Taiwan's high mountains. Alpine meadows, dwarf bamboo, and hardy shrubs dominate the surrounding landscape, representing a well-preserved alpine ecosystem. From the summit, Mt. Dongxiaonan offers sweeping views of the Yushan Peaks, Mt. Batongguan, Mt. Dashuiku, and the southern section of the Central Mountain Range. Its expansive panoramas and open ridgelines make it an exceptional location for appreciating and photographing Taiwan's alpine scenery.
