Yushan East Peak is approximately one kilometer east of Yushan Main Peak. It is Taiwan's third-highest mountain and the foremost peak among the island's renowned "Ten Harsh Peaks." Formed primarily of resistant metamorphic rocks, the summit is surrounded by dramatic cliffs on three sides, while its fortress-like rocky crest is one of the most distinctive landforms in the Yushan Range. Located within Yushan National Park, the peak is shaped by strong alpine winds, low temperatures, and intense weathering, supporting alpine grasslands and cold-tolerant shrubs. From the summit, expansive views extend across Yushan Main Peak, North Peak, and the deeply incised eastern valleys, showcasing the rugged geology and spectacular ridgelines that define Taiwan's highest mountain landscape.
